Kerala PSC Degree Level Question Papers & Model Questions

The Degree Level stream covers every Kerala PSC post whose minimum qualification is a bachelor’s degree, and the professional and postgraduate posts above it. It is the stream with the widest spread of syllabuses on the site, because a degree-level notification is usually written against one subject rather than a general standard.

Three groups account for most of it. The general administrative posts — Secretariat Assistant, University Assistant, Assistant Grade II, Auditor — are filled through a Common Preliminary Examination and a general-studies Main Examination. The teaching posts — HSA, HSST, UP and LP School Teacher, and the Junior Language Teacher grades — are examined subject by subject. The professional posts — Assistant Engineer, Medical Officer, Assistant Professor and the specialist medical grades — test the candidate’s own discipline.

Papers here are set in English far more often than in the lower streams, and the teaching and medical papers assume the subject knowledge the qualification implies.

How a degree-level post is filled depends on which group it falls in.

• General administrative posts — Common Preliminary Examination, then a Main Examination covering general studies, current affairs, reasoning and language.
• Teaching posts — a single subject paper, usually with a general-education and pedagogy component alongside the subject itself.
• Professional and specialist posts — one paper in the candidate’s discipline. Many also require registration with the relevant council, and some require post-qualification experience.
